Insurance Restoration
We guide you through the insurance claim process start to finish.
A roof insurance claim is a process with rules, deadlines, and a burden of proof — and homeowners who navigate it alone routinely settle for less than their policy owes them, or get denied for documentation gaps. CraftBuilt's insurance restoration team manages roof claims start to finish: inspection, documentation, adjuster meetings, and the restoration itself.
How the Roof Claim Process Actually Works
- Document before you file. Our free inspection produces the photo record, measurements, and damage assessment that define your claim's scope — before the insurer's clock starts.
- File with evidence. You open the claim with your carrier; we supply the documentation that frames it accurately.
- The adjuster meeting. We meet your adjuster on the roof and walk the damage together, test square by test square. Adjusters are professionals with heavy caseloads — a contractor who documents to their standards makes agreement easy.
- Scope reconciliation. When the carrier's estimate misses damage or underprices scope, we negotiate line items with evidence, not arguments.
- Restoration. Work is completed to code and manufacturer spec, documented for the carrier's close-out, with deductible and any upgrades handled transparently.
What Policies Cover — and What They Don't
Arizona homeowner policies generally cover sudden storm perils: wind, hail, and falling debris. They don't cover wear, age, or deferred maintenance — and the gray zone between "storm-damaged" and "old" is exactly where documentation wins or loses claims. Be aware of the trends: shorter filing windows after storm events, roof age schedules that depreciate payouts, and cosmetic-damage exclusions on metal. We read your damage against those realities and tell you honestly whether a claim is worth filing.
Why Documentation Is Our Obsession
Our storm crews photograph and measure to adjuster standards from the first ladder climb — a discipline that came from hundreds of claims across hail corridors like Sierra Vista and wind country like Payson. Customers routinely tell us the claim they expected to fight simply... settled. That's what evidence does.
What We Are — and Aren't
We're roofing contractors, not public adjusters, and the distinction matters: we document damage, meet adjusters, and restore roofs; we don't take a percentage of your settlement. Your claim's value goes into your roof.
My claim was already denied — is it over?
Not necessarily. Denials for "insufficient damage" sometimes reflect insufficient documentation. A re-inspection with proper evidence can support a supplement or appeal — we'll tell you frankly whether yours can.
Reading Your Policy Before You Need It
Ten minutes with your declarations page now beats an hour of surprises after a storm. Three things to find: whether your roof is covered at replacement cost (RCV) or actual cash value (ACV) — ACV policies depreciate payouts by roof age, and the difference on an older roof is thousands; your wind/hail deductible, which on many Arizona policies is a percentage of dwelling coverage rather than a flat number; and any roof age schedule or cosmetic-damage exclusion added at renewal. Insurers have been quietly tightening all three across Arizona. If you find terms you don't like, renewal season — not claim season — is when they can be negotiated.
What if my insurer's estimate is lower than yours?
Common, and usually resolvable. Carrier estimates are built in the same estimating software ours are; discrepancies come down to missed line items — steep-charge, tear-off depth, code-required upgrades, detach-and-reset for solar. We reconcile scope line by line with the adjuster, with photos attached to each disputed item. Most gaps close on evidence.
Does filing a claim raise my rates?
A single weather claim typically affects you less than the claims-free discount you lose — but multiple claims in a short window matter, which is why we tell homeowners honestly when damage is below deductible and not worth filing. The claim you don't file is sometimes the best advice we give.
How long does the process take?
Straightforward claims: inspection to funded repair in a few weeks. Add time for adjuster scheduling after major storm events (they're triaged too) and for supplements. We keep the file moving — deadlines are tracked so the policy's clock never runs out on you.
