Emergency Roof Repair

Same-day tarping and dry-in when your roof can't wait.

Some roof problems can wait for a convenient appointment. Water pouring through a ceiling during a monsoon cell, a tree limb through the decking, half a slope of shingles in the yard — those can't. CraftBuilt runs emergency roof response from both our Show Low and Mesa offices: same-day tarping and dry-in that stops the damage, followed by permanent repair on a schedule the weather allows.

What Counts as a Roofing Emergency

  • Active interior leaking — water on floors, spreading ceiling stains, light fixtures collecting water
  • Structural penetration: limbs, windborne debris, or collapse
  • Major material loss: courses of shingles gone, tile fields displaced, membrane peeled back
  • Ice dam flooding at the eaves during high-country thaws

If it's happening now, call the nearest office directly — Show Low for the White Mountains and Rim country, Mesa for the Valley and points south. Emergencies are triaged ahead of scheduled work.

What We Do on an Emergency Call

  1. Make it stop: professional tarping and temporary dry-in that actually sheds water — not a blue tarp and hope. A properly installed tarp protects for weeks if permanent repairs must wait out a weather window.
  2. Document everything first. Emergency mitigation is exactly when critical insurance evidence gets destroyed. We photograph before we cover, because your claim may depend on it.
  3. Stabilize the interior path: identifying where water traveled so you can address wet insulation and drywall before mold does.
  4. Quote the permanent fix — repair or replacement — with honest sequencing around weather and materials.

Why Mitigation Speed Matters to Your Wallet

Insurance policies require homeowners to mitigate further damage after a loss — a tarped roof is a documented act of mitigation, while an open roof that rains in for a week becomes a coverage argument. Fast emergency response isn't just about your floors; it protects the claim itself. It's why our storm damage process leads with tarps and cameras in the same visit.

Do you charge extra for emergency calls?

Emergency tarping is priced as the small, fast job it is — and when the damage is storm-caused and covered, mitigation costs are typically claimable. We document them for exactly that purpose.

Be Ready Before You Need To Be

The best emergency response starts before the storm. Five minutes of preparation: save both CraftBuilt office numbers in your phone now, not while water is running down a wall; know where your attic access is and keep it reachable; locate your electrical panel, because water near fixtures means cutting power to that circuit first; keep a couple of plastic sheets or contractor bags where you can find them for furniture and floors; and photograph your roof and ceilings once a year in good condition — "before" pictures make insurance conversations dramatically simpler. None of this prevents an emergency; all of it shrinks one.

What should I do while waiting for your crew?

Contain and document, from the ground. Move valuables, catch water, poke a small drain hole in any bulging ceiling bubble over a bucket (a controlled drip beats a collapse), and photograph everything. Don't climb on the roof — wet, damaged roofs injure homeowners every storm season, and nothing up there is worth it.

Is a tarp really safe to live under for weeks?

A professionally installed tarp — anchored, lapped, and shedding water correctly — is genuine temporary weatherproofing, and insurers treat it as such. What it isn't is permanent: UV eats exposed tarps in months, so we schedule the real repair promptly and re-secure the tarp free if weather delays stretch.

Do you handle the insurance side of emergencies too?

Yes — the same visit that tarps your roof documents the damage underneath it, feeding straight into our insurance restoration process so mitigation and claim evidence never work against each other.
