Why Concrete Tile Fits Arizona

Concrete tile shrugs off the UV exposure that cooks asphalt shingles, and its thermal mass plus the air gap under each tile keep attics measurably cooler through Phoenix and Tucson summers. It carries a Class A fire rating, doesn't feed monsoon-season mold, and the tile itself routinely lasts 50 years or more. The Tile Outlives the Underlayment

Here's the fact every tile-roof owner should know: the tile is not the waterproofing. The felt or synthetic underlayment beneath it is — and in Arizona heat it wears out decades before the tile does, typically at 15 to 25 years. When it fails, water finds the deck while the roof still looks perfect from the street. The fix is a lift-and-relay: we remove your tile, replace the underlayment and flashings with high-temperature materials rated for tile service, then reinstall the same tile — replacing only the broken pieces. You keep the roof's look at a fraction of full replacement cost.

Concrete or clay tile?

Concrete delivers the tile look at lower cost with more profile and color options, and it handles high-country freeze-thaw better than most owners expect. Clay holds its color longer under extreme UV and suits historic and high-end Spanish styles. We install both; for most Arizona homes concrete is the value play, and we'll show you samples side by side.
